This program is designed to meet the needs of the medical diagnostic laboratory profession for a science-based academic qualification. It includes a comprehensive grounding in laboratory sciences and specialized training in the various laboratory-testing disciplines, such as Microbiology, Biochemistry and Hematology. It prepares students to perform clinical laboratory procedures in Biochemistry, Hematology, Microbiology and Immunology, that may be used in the maintenance of health and diagnosis/treatment of patients. Counseling emphasizes mathematical and scientific concepts related to specimen collection, laboratory testing and procedures, quality assistance and reporting/recording and interpreting findings involving tissues, blood and body fluids. The curriculum was adapted from the Arkansas University, USA model from their established program and tailored to suit the needs of our university.
