The Nursing program at KSAU-HS dates back to November 2001 when NGHA established the College of Nursing & Allied Medical Sciences. In 2005, the College was incorporated into KSAU-HS and was renamed the College of Nursing. The urgency to initiate a nursing program arose in response to the massive shortage of Saudi nurses amounting to 100,000 nurses. KSAU-HS nursing program is now offered in three colleges in Riyadh, Jeddah and Al Ahsa, which award B.S. in Nursing (BSN). The program expands the nurse’s experiences theoretically and practically. Theoretical courses are being taught in classrooms in parallel with the clinical teaching at King Abdulaziz Medical City, primary health care centers and schools of the Ministry of Education. The Colleges also prepares baccalaureate nurse generalists to function at an entry level of professional nursing in primary, secondary, and tertiary care settings as well as to advance knowledge about patient health care, promote teaching and research and contribute to the progress of nursing profession in Saudi Arabia.
