Swine Flu Alert Reaches Phase 5
Swine influenza spreads from swine to swine and sometimes also to those who handle them or work in pig farms, or come into close contact with them. This is not a common occurrence, but under certain conditions may occur.

Support of World Kidney Day - March 12
In support of World Kidney Day (WKD) the Health Promotion Services in King Abdulaziz Medical City, participated in a health awareness campaign focusing on the importance of our kidneys and reducing the frequency and impact of kidney disease and its associated health problems.

World Health Day 2009 focuses on the resilience and safety of health facilities and the health workers who treat those affected by emergencies.



World Voice Day - April 16

World Thalassmia Day - May 5

Thalassemia is an inherited blood disease which can be prevented through premarital blood tests.  This helps to reduce the possibility of passing on the traits of carrier genes which when combined from both parents results in children who will have thalassemia.

World Blood Donors Day - June 14

International Day Against Drugs - June 26

In recognition of World Breastfeeding Week, the Health Promotion Service of the NGHA distributed pamphlets educating mothers about the benefits of breastfeeding and how to overcome any difficulties that may arise.

International Day of Older Persons - October 1
The United Nations' (UN) International Day of Older Persons is celebrated annually to recognize the contributions of older persons and to examine issues that affect their lives.


World Mental Health Day - October 10
WFMH is an international membership organization founded  to advance the prevention of mental and emotional disorders, the proper treatment and care of those with such disorders, and the promotion of mental health.


World Food Day -October  16
World Food Day provides an occasion to once again highlight the plight of 923 million undernourished people in the world.

The World Stroke Day is an excellent opportunity to turn visions into practice in a wide range of formats like campaigns towards the general population, press releases and invitations to interviews and features in mass media.



World Diabetes Day - November 14
The campaign draws attention to issues of paramount importance to the diabetes world and keeps diabetes firmly in the public spotlight.



World AIDS Day - December 1
World AIDS Day provides governments, national AIDS programs, faith organizations, community organizations, and individuals with an opportunity to raise awareness and focus attention on the global AIDS epidemic.

 


International Day of People with Disability - December 3
