Occupation Awareness Day
10 Jan 2010
More than 150 female students attended the Occupation Awareness Day event held in King Faisal University – Al-Ahsa. The awareness day was organized by
King Abdulaziz Hospital in the National Guard
as a part of their community services in collaboration with the Alumni office, contributing to the community’s education and awareness by building a cultural background for achieving employment.
The Manager of the Recruitment Services in the National Guard Health Affair’s Easter Region and the event organizer Buthaina Al-Muaigel pointed out the success of this day which included a presentation about the NGHA, its mission, vision, objectives, submission days and employment steps. In addition, there was a presentation on “how to be unique” and how to write a professional resume.
Many women who seek employment are unaware of how important a well-written resume when applying for a job. Moreover, they discussed job interviews focusing on the purpose of those interviews and the common mistakes applicants make. There was also an open discussion where the students were able to observe interviews up close, creating a realistic atmosphere similar to real interviews.
On the other hand,
King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences
participated in the event, the associate dean of the clinical affairs in the College of Nursing – Al-Ahsa Dr. Ilham Al-Ateeg gave a presentation about the College of Nursing and the advantages of the being employed in this vital sector.
She said, “When I met the students, I felt their passion for awareness activities. In the beginning, the lecture was a bit strange because they represented the society’s point of view of the nursing profession.” Nursing had undergone a lot of changes for despite staying true to its old ways nurses (female and male) are now becoming researchers, administrators, academics and quality specialists.
The students were very impressed by the developments of the College of Nursing after opening Stream II for Bachelor of Science degrees holders. This stream grants a bachelor degree for graduates after extensive and specialized study in this area of study. This is a clear indication of the development of the nursing profession and its new approach.
