The Scientific Council at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences granted Dr. Majid Mohammed Al Tuwaijri the Professor title.
Dr. Majid holds a bachelor's degree in computer engineering from King Saud University and a master's and PhD degree in Computer & Electrical Engineering from the University of Louisiana, USA. Now he is the Dean of the College of the Public Health and Health Informatics, KSAU-HS and an Executive Director, IT Department in the National Guard Health Affairs which in 2010 has been granted the Arab Health Exhibition Award for medical institutions and specialized health centers. Moreover, Dr. Majid was the leader for the health team in the National Plan for Information Technology in 2002. After the establishment of King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, Dr. Tuwaijri contributed in establishing the first Master Program specialized in Health Informatics in the Middle East in 2005 with more than 99 male and female graduates, as well as his contribution in establishing the first specialized college in public health in the Arabian Gulf area in 2006 and was appointed dean of the college.
Dr. Majid also contributed in the establishment of the Saudi Association for Health Informatics (SAHI) and was elected the Chief of the board of directors in 2006. In addition, Dr. Majid supervised the e-Health Conference in held in 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2012.
In addition, Dr. Majid Al Tuwaijri supervises King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Arabic Health Encyclopedia based in National Guard Health Affairs, which aims to serve millions of Arabs and native speakers in various parts of the earth, where they can access reliable health information for public health, health education and promoting the health of the individual and society. The first phase of the Encyclopedia project was launched March 2012.
He also received the Highest Achievement Award in Saudi Arabia by King Abduallah bin Abdulaziz in 2008. |
