Under the auspice of Vice President of the Educational Affairs, Professor Yousef Al Essa. Deanship of Student Affairs represented in Students Club organized University Olympiad and sixth Annual Marathon. These activities were held in Riyadh Campus for four days, starting from Wednesday 22 March 2017 until 25 March 2017. The university Olympiad is a sport awareness event that aimed at highlighting the importance of sports activity in student`s life and raising the awareness of health among students and community.
The university Olympiad began with six various competitions included football, volleyball, tennis, table tennis, 200 meters record and swimming. During the first day, the event attracted a huge number of students; more than 200 students participate in these competitions. In addition, the competitions were played for three consecutive days: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The first day was devoted to preliminary roles in each game, while the finals were played on the second and third day with the presents of Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Suleiman Al Quaifl and Associate Dean of Cultural Activities at the Deanship of Student Affairs, Dr. Bader Al Mugbel.
In the last day, the sport Olympiad concluded its program with the Sixth Annual Marathon, final match of KSAU-HS Cup and winner’s coronation ceremony under the auspice Professor Yousef Al Essa. The Marathon started at 4:15 P.M. with participation of 352 contestants from inside and outside the university. The distance of the marathon was 605 KM. Moreover, the top three Winners divided to two groups, top three of the external participants. The first place, Hussain Jamman Al Hamdah who finished the race in 20 minutes. Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Ghamdi came at second place in 21 minutes. While the third place went to Sultan Al Yami with 21 minutes.
Second group is top three from students. Gold medal was awarded to Abdulaziz Al Khurais, who came in the first place among all students in 30 minutes. Second place and silver medal went to Mohammed Al Hadram. The third place and bronze medal went to Rakan Al Zahrani. Moreover, after the end of marathon, final match of KSAU-HS Cup (football) between College of Medicine and College of Applied Medical Sciences started. College of Applied Medical Sciences won the match 2-0. Finally, Vice President of the Educational Affairs, Professor Yousef Al Essa awarded the winners of the competitions.
