Residency Training Programs

Residency Training Programs at KSAU-HS are designed to provide residents with an opportunity for the incremental acquisition of knowledge, skills and responsibilities which will enable them proficiently to practice medicine in their given specialties. All programs cover core curricular material of immediate and direct concern to Saudi and Arab Board examiners.  Those enrolled in a four-year program are considered junior residents during the first two years of the  programs.  Five-year programs require residents to complete the first three years as a junior.  Promotion from R1 to R2 status is contingent on maintaining a cumulative evaluation average for each rotation and achieving a satisfactory grade on the final (end year examination. Upon satisfactory completion of the training programs, residents will be qualified for Part II written exams of the Saudi and Arab Board. Candidates who pass their written exams become Board Certified, which entitles them to assume the rank of Specialist and, eventually, Consultant.

KSAU-HS Residency Programs enjoy a reputation among the local community for having outstanding training programs, because it starts with outstanding individuals, who are driven to success and eventually become Saudi Board and/or Arab Board Certified.

Currently, KSAU-HS has twenty-two Saudi Board approved residency training programs with three hundred fifty-four (354) currently enrolled residents.
