Community Services Unit

​​​The College of Applied Medical Sciences at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences believes that community service is an integral part of its academic role to expand the range of educational opportunities and resources by building strong relationships with the community. Therefore, the Community Service Unit encourages and supports all faculty members, practitioners, staff, students and alumni to interact with the community through enriching activities and initiatives, such as campaign, workshops, seminars, and webinars to raise awareness. Activities are usually organized onsite or outside of the campus, for instance, in schools, hospitals, malls, charities and other public places in the Jeddah region. Accordingly, the Community Service Unit is concerned with monitoring, organizing, documenting and developing community service activities in the college. Mission and Vision:

The College of Applied Medical Sciences (CoAMS) at King Saud Bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences (KSAU-HS) recognizes the significance of maintaining a strong relationship with the community as part of its mission and vision. The College aims to achieve academic excellency through advanced methods of teaching, innovative research, and community services.
To achieve this mission, the College has incorporated community service into its strategic plan. It seeks to increase the involvement of faculty, students, and alumni in both professional and community activities. These stakeholders play a crucial role in realizing the College's goals.
In alignment with the overall mission of KSAU-HS, the College and the university emphasize the importance of contributing to the community. They actively participate in co​mmunity education activities that benefit individuals or organizations within or outside the university.
To facilitate and coordinate these endeavors, the College has established the Community Service Committee (CSC) and Community Service Unit. This unit serves as a platform for different programs within the College to collaborate with targeted communities, by coordinating, initiating, reviewing and suggesting activities and events that program could engage in. Their efforts aim to enhance the relationship between the College and the community it serves, as well as to enable faculty and student engagement in community services.
By prioritizing community service, the College of Applied Medical Sciences at KSAU-HS is committed to making a positive impact on society through its educational programs, research initiatives, and community involvement.


 
​Community Service Unit Responsibilities:

  1. Initiate and coordinate community service activities and events.
  2. Suggest activities and services that programs could do.
  3. Review all commu​nity engagement activities by faculty and students.
  4. Collaborate with relevant partners to carry out community services.
  5. Monitor and evaluate different community services;
  6. Facilitate faculty and student engagement in community services
  7. Insure that every community service project/event includes membership materials and information
  8. Insure that every community service has all supporting records
  9. Written Community Service reports are to be sent to the Dean
