Program Overview

The Clinical Laboratory Sciences Program - (CLSP) aligns with and supports the mission and goals of the institution by producing highly qualified and specialized graduates in Clinical Laboratory Sciences to become proficient practitioners in the field. Academically, the program provides high quality of education, and maximizes the students’ potential through intensive instructional and practical training. The program promotes and enhances research opportunities through incorporating the proper educational courses for research conduct, providing the necessary research tools and activities to students, and ensuring active engagement and participation in local and national research conferences. The program also promotes active involvement and participation in community services through regular voluntary work intended to bring awareness and help to the general public

Admission Criteria

Admission to King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences is competitive and based on the General Secondary School Certificate score (30%), Qiyas​ Aptitude Test (30%), and Achievement Test (40%), in accordance with the university’s approved regulations.

Program Learning Outcomes

Knowledge and Understanding
K1Describe the principles of different disciplines and sub-specialties of clinical laboratory sciences including their relationships and dissimilarities.
K2 Integrate basic and clinical sciences for diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of different human diseases.
K3 Explain the process of proper specimen collection, storage, transportation, and testing in various laboratory sections.

S1 Perform analytical techniques on various clinical specimens for the production and interpretation of laboratory results related to different tests.
S2 Conduct safety and quality control procedures required in clinical laboratory practice.
S3 Practice critical thinking, and problem-solving skills for investigation and evaluation of research and clinical data with the ability to use IT and biostatistical tools.
S4 Apply speaking, reading and academic writing skills in English and Arabic languages.
