Information about Research:

The College of Science and Health Professions (COSHP) at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences is home to three academic departments: the Basic Science Department, the English Language Department, and the Humanities Department. This diversity paves the way for a wide spectrum of research outcomes spanning various fields of study. Each department offers unique perspectives and approaches, fostering an active research environment within the college and opening doors for multidisciplinary projects.

Furthermore, the college actively promotes internal collaboration in research with King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMRC) and King Abdulaziz Medical City (KAMC). The college also supports external collaborations with organizations such as the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) and the Ministry of Education.

In support of academic research and education studies, the college maintains a comprehensive database of student academic performance records. Researchers may access this invaluable resource once they secure approval from the Institutional Review Board (IRB) at KAIMRC. This database equips researchers with the essential data needed to conduct their education studies effectively.

COSHP is committed to fostering an environment that encourages collaboration and research, making resources accessible to further the pursuit of knowledge and excellence in basic science, humanities, English language, and educational research.

The college is actively promoting the research environment through

Establishing a dedicated research laboratory with the capacity to accommodate over 20 researchers, offering invaluable opportunities for faculty members to conduct their research. The current active research projects in the lab are centered around the fields of chemistry and stem cell research.

Employing highly qualified research assistants who play a pivotal role in supporting faculty members in their research endeavors. These assistants are involved in tasks such as data collection, experimental work, and data analysis.

Offering workshops such as "The Journey to Academic Promotion," designed to guide new faculty members through the research journey and provide resources and opportunities within the college and the university. These workshops also provide insights into research fundings and grant applications.

Providing an academic course, RESC 201 (Research Skills), aimed at introducing students to fundamental scientific research concepts under the guidance of faculty from the Basic Science Department. The course covers various research aspects, including different types of publications, research ethics (Institutional Review Board - IRB and plagiarism), essential research components (research questions/hypotheses, methodology, results, discussion/conclusions), and various referencing styles.
