It holds the distinction of being the first university in the Kingdom and the region to specialize entirely in health-related academic disciplines. KSAU-HS was officially established by Royal Decree from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz on March 6, 2005, following the remarkable success of the National Guard Health Affairs (NGHA) educational programs, which laid the foundation for the University's launch. The University operates under the umbrella of the Ministry of National Guard and is organizationally affiliated with the Ministry of Education. It has been fully accredited by the Ministry of Education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and offers a wide range of academic programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
