Under the generous patronage of His Royal Highness Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz - may God protect him - His Royal Highness Minister of National Guard, Prince Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, inaugurated the "Riyadh Global Summit on Medical Biotechnology 2024," organized by the Health Affairs of the National Guard in partnership with the Ministry of Investment, for the third consecutive time.
The Executive Director of Health Affairs at the National Guard, Prof. Bandar bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Qanawi, confirmed that the royal sponsorship and the opening of the summit by the Minister of National Guard reflect the leadership's interest in supporting the national biotechnology strategy, which aims to enhance self-sufficiency and achieve a positive economic and social impact by focusing on key priorities such as vaccine development, biomanufacturing, localization, and supporting genomics projects as well as improving plant cultivation.
The summit witnessed wide participation over three days with more than 60 speakers from a select group of international and local experts, in addition to extensive participation from global companies to explore development opportunities and investment partnerships, increase local manufacturing, and transfer knowledge and localize technology in biotechnology fields that face challenges, notably transforming scientific research into innovative commercial products amid a rapidly changing regulatory environment.
The accompanying exhibition featured prominent entities and leading companies in health, technology, industrial, and investment fields. The summit also activated discussion and consultation sessions, along with the "Saudi Forum for Investment in Biotechnology," which is a key part of the summit, aiming to launch new initiatives and enable startups and researchers to connect with major investors to showcase their innovations, expand their professional networks, and open investment channels capable of turning outstanding ideas into tangible realities.
