The Deanship of Student Affairs at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences (KSAU-HS) is organizing a celebratory program in honor of World Arabic Language Day under the theme "Hamza". The event is scheduled for Sunday and Monday, December 8–9, 2024, at the Deanship of Student Affairs Exhibition at the University's Riyadh campus. The program will shed light on the developments and transformations of the Arabic language and its impact on human communication throughout history.
This program aims to enhance national identity, instill cultural values, and encourage creativity and innovation in projects and initiatives presented in the Arabic language. It also seeks to promote the creation of rich Arabic content, emphasizing the significance of linguistic and national affiliation, while supporting the knowledge economy, a central pillar of Saudi Vision 2030.
The program also aims to foster interaction with Arabic-based technologies and software, adopting them as effective key platforms. By doing so, it affirms Arabic as the native language and a cornerstone of the cultural identity of the Arab and Islamic world, contributing to the development of digital skills among enthusiasts. These efforts align with the Kingdom’s ambitious vision for digital transformation.
The event will feature a complementary exhibition presenting several distinguished sections, including the significance of Arabic as the language of the Quran, the greatest linguistic text in history, Owtar Al-Qawafi Corner, Arab Thinkers, and The Goldsmith. The exhibition will also explore the golden ages of the Arabic language, its history, Saudi Arabia's role in promoting its status, and future directions in leveraging artificial intelligence to advance Arabic content. The program will include diverse workshops, interactive competitions, and literary sessions, all contributing to fostering interest in the Arabic language and its application across various fields.
In this regard, Dr. Bader Al Muqbal, Dean of Student Affairs, emphasized the Deanship's commitment to celebrating World Arabic Language Day annually as part of the University's efforts to reinforce national identity, with Arabic being one of its most essential components. He highlighted the importance of preserving and enhancing the language's global stature, noting that Arabic is the language of the Quran and one of the most widely spoken languages worldwide.
