Over the past two decades, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has witnessed leaps and bounds in most major areas of higher education. Today, the Kingdom has about 30 public universities. Under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, “Vision 2030,” the country has transitioned to a strong focus on science and technology. The government aims to have at least five Saudi universities among the top 200 universities in the world based on international rankings. KSAU-HS has been at the forefront of this progress. Since its establishment in 2005, KSAU-HS has grown from a single college to three large campuses in Riyadh, Jeddah and Alahsa. Now that the University has set its foundation, we are cultivating a leading edge research environment. In this pursuance, we have established the Office of Research to support our faculty members and affiliates in leading research in their respective fields. The Office of Research is key to our larger vision of becoming the premier health sciences higher education and research facility in the region.
These endeavors are supported and closely overseen by His Excellency, Prince Khalid bin Ayyaf, Minister of the National Guard. Vice President’s AddressProf. Youssef Abdullah Al EissaVice President, Educational Affairs, KSAU-HS
KSAU-HS, in its first decade, had been focused on initiating and establishing itself as an educational institute of the highest standards. Many new faculty members have joined our ranks, including distinguished professors, and will continue to do so in the years to come. We are attracting these accomplished individuals, in part, because of our commitment to developing research space and infrastructure. Now, in its second decade, KSAU-HS is focused on becoming a regional medical research locus. We understand that the nature of research activity in a medical school defines the intellectual climate of the institution. KSAU-HS research enterprise is going through significant expansion. Hence, the University has launched the Office of Research.
The Office of Research assists KSAU-HS affiliates in their research projects from conception to post publishing. The Office of Research consists of five centers that cover every type of support researchers need in their endeavors. Faculty members can find the collegial environment, collaboration support and funding advice they need to thrive as researchers at the Research Support and Development Center. At the Biostatistics Support and Evidence Based Medicine Centers, affiliates can obtain highly qualified expert consultations about their research feasibility, study design, statistical analyses and clinical trial plans. The Scientific Writing Center provides professional editing services that refine manuscripts to fit the specific journals they are submitted to. Even after publishing, the Office of Research ensures that findings are well publicized at the local and regional levels through its University Research Profile.
